Two Different Perspectives

— Balanced Rock is one of the most iconic images at Arches National Park. To give you a sense of dimension, the top tock is about the size of three school buses. The total height of Balanced Rock is 128 feet (39 m) from its base and can be seen from the park’s main road and via a short trail if you decide to leave your car and get closer. Although this angle seems popular, walking around the structure will give you quite different views of this rock. Just look at the photo below. It is hard to imagine you are looking at the same structure as above. When it comes to photography, it is always a good idea to experiment with different angles and orientations.

Balanced Rock

We returned to this area several times while visiting Arches NP. However, this first view taken in the morning as we drove up remains my favorite. The skies were simply amazing!

There is also another balanced rock structure in a different national park. You might want to visit Big Bend NP‘s Balanced Rock and see how different it is.

Oh wow. That gives our very own Brimham Rocks a run for their money. https://margaret21.com/2021/08/30/a-window-on-a-prehistoric-playground/
