— The Giant and Twin Domes are an iconic landmark at the entrance of the Big Room at Carlsbad Caverns National Park. The Giant Dome is actually a column (although some refer to them as stalagmites) since it touches the cavern ceiling. The Giant Dome measures 16 feet in diameter and is 62 feet high. Carlsbad Caverns National Park was established on May 14, 1930.
