— Davis Mountains State Park is one of my favorite places in Texas. The mountain views and scenery are breathtaking. We have visited this park several times (it’s about 6 hours from Austin). Earlier this year I posted another scene from this very trail but looking northwest. This time the view shows Hwy 118 leading up to the University of Texas’ McDonald Observatory and the Nature Conservancy’s Davis Mountains Preserve. That highway also offers a magnificent 90-mile loop to Fort Davis.
