— Of the cities we visited while traveling through Italy a few years ago, Assisi was an unexpected dream come true. We thought that visiting the Basilica of Saint Francis of Assisi and his birth place would be enough. Little did we know how much the Umbria region would affect us and stimulate our senses. From breakfasts at the top of our hotel overlooking the countryside and remarkable architecture to walking up and down cobblestone-covered and narrow streets, Assisi marked us profoundly. This is one of the many views we experienced at the end of the day. An idyllic place, Umbria is truly one of the closest places to heaven.
