Yosemite National Park
– From The National Park Service website: “On June 30, 1864, amid the Civil War, President Abraham Lincoln signed the Yosemite Grant Act to protect Yosemite Valley and Mariposa Grove. From the beginning, this act was a legacy for our nation.”
I took this photo last year. It is the view just as you exit the tunnel on Wawona Road. Three major landmark points in the park are seen here: El Capitán (left), Half Dome (way in the back) and Yosemite Falls (right).
