— I believe that the last time we had visited Rocky Mountain NP, we somehow missed Alberta Falls. With so many trails and breathtaking views throughout the park, it is no wonder we could not see it all. This is very popular trail in the park because it is fairly easy to get to it, and it’s only 1.6 miles (2.5 km) roundtrip with a 200-foot (61 m) elevation gain. In our last visit, we hiked past these falls a couple of times. The last time we experienced the falls at dusk (photo above). Named after Alberta Sprague (she was the wife of one of Estes Park settlers), Alberta Falls drops only 30 feet (9.1 m) and has plenty of options for a scenic picnic around the area. To give you an idea of its size, just look at the photo below and try to spot a hiker sitting on one of the boulders on the right.
