Daring to Be Different

— Spring is in full swing in Austin, Texas. Yesterday, I joined a couple of photographers on a short walk at the Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center. I had not been there in two weeks. What a difference it was! Areas that were just green are now covered with wildflowers. Among the several fields I walked by, I especially liked the area featured in the photo above. It had a field of Bluebonnets, the official Texas State flower. Texans seem to live to see Texas Bluebonnets (Lupinus texensis) yearly. The wildflower display can be astonishing when we have enough rain in the fall. This could be one of those years. The Buttercup standing stall surrounded by Bluebonnets attracted me to this field. I could not resist capturing this image.

Thanks, Brad. Yes, people in Texas are going nuts over wildflowers. That happens every year.

Sarah, thank you. That contrast with the complementary colors is what got my attention at first.
