— Fall foliage is generally late in Texas, but when it comes, it puts on a fantastic show. I had been waiting for perfect weather that would allow me to spend some time enjoying fall colors in central Texas. After some false starts, we finally had some great fall weather days. So, I took off with a couple of friends to camp out at Guadalupe River SP. The drive from Austin was very promising the moment you leave major roads and get into some smaller roads and state highways. As I approached the park, I could not imagine what we’d find. My first hike was the Bald Cypress trail, right along the Guadalupe River. Were we in for some impressive colors! We liked it so much that we did the same hike every day we were in the park. The light was different every single time, and that provided for more dramatic fall colors. This particular scene in the shot above was close to the picnic area. I liked it in particular because the sunlight enhanced the vibrancy of all colors. In addition to fall foliage, you could also still see some green leaves. It was an explosion of color.
