— Every time I bike the Northeast Metro Park, I also ride through several Pflugerville city parks. Besides the scenic views and shaded areas, I always pass this memorial to the Fallen Warrior located at the intersection of Pfluger Park and Gilleland Creek Park. I know my photo is not showing much of the memorial itself, but the idea behind it was to highlight the importance of country to those warriors. They fought and died for what the flag and our ideals symbolize. The original memorial was created to honor a local Marine who died fighting in the Operation Iraqi Freedom. After his funeral, local citizens decided to research and create a memorial to honor all those who had died in combat.
