— Sometimes we lose sight of how fragile we are. When I made this shot in 2011, we were spending New Year’s in Taos, New Mexico, along with some dear friends. Seeing nature covered with snow and beauty in the simplest things, I was reminded of Sting’s song “Fragile.” In particular, these lyrics came to mind:

That Nothing comes from violence and nothing ever could

For all those born beneath an angry star
Lest we forget how fragile we are.
