— Back in 2004, we did our first cruise to Alaska. After flying into Vancouver, we boarded Holland America’s Statendam for an unforgettable voyage via the Inside Passage. The excitement of going to Alaska and taking a train all the way to Denali National Park was beyond words can describe here. This trip had many highlights, including the first time we saw Mount Denali (Mt. McKinley, as it also known), Exit Glacier and several other places. Our first stop during this trip was the small and fun town of Ketchikan. Since it was our first stop, we opted to have no side trip and explore Ketchikan. Yes, we did walk up and down Creek Street, we visited Dolly’s House and checked out some of the odd streets that were nothing but a stairway. We also went to the Great Alaskan Lumberjack show. The photo here was made on the deck of the fine Holland American’s Statendam, our home for seven fun-filled days.
