— I looked at my photo library and considered using one of the photos I have to match this week’s theme in the Nature Photographers Network group of which I am a member. However, I wanted to push myself a bit more and go out looking for subjects that would qualify for the theme in question: three. I thought it would be more challenging for me.
I tend to shoot what I see when I travel. So, going out with a specific composition in mind was a good challenge. I took a walk to a neighborhood park before the heat had settled in for the day. I returned with a little over a dozen images or so from this one location I visited at the Copperfield Nature Trail. Clearly, the idea that one can sometimes just turn around and find worthy subjects proved to be true. Although there were more colorful subjects (maybe I’ll feature them in another post), this particular patch of wild oats got my attention. The key was to focus on three leaves and pray the wind would be calm.
Among the various things that oats symbolize, kindness, health, and wellness are among those. I love how delicate the leaves are and how beautiful they look in a macro setting, especially when there is plenty of soft green as a background. I did not use a tripod for the photo. I knew that getting the camera at the right angle I needed would be very difficult if using a tripod. That was the case for this shot. Instead of relying on cropping the photo at home, I twisted myself around a tree for stabilization and correct composition and made the shot.
