— I suppose we have all read and/or heard the saying about “can’t see the forest for the trees.” We sometimes get so bogged down with details that we miss what is around us. That was not the case during this hike of the North Tenmile Creek in Frisco, Colorado.
Deep inside Eagles Nest Wilderness in the White River NF, we were nearly isolated from the rest of the world. We felt at times we were the only hikers in that area. We could absorb all the sounds and smells that the forest provided. While taking a break by the North Tenmile Creek, we began to explore our surroundings. We could see the forest as well as the trees, even the small ones. Nothing was overlooked, as we had all the time to immerse ourselves in nature.
There, surrounded by giant Douglas Fir pines, I spotted this small tree growing in the shadows of other pines. Against the dark tree bark of another pine, the small tree was a testament to the power nature has to generate new life in adverse and unexpected locations. Yes, I could see the forest and the trees.
This post was inspired by Denzil Nature’s photo challenge about tree bark as well as Janet’s call in her blog This, That and the Other Thing for the Lens-Artists Photo Challenge #260: Overlooked.

Beautiful photo of this little tree under the big tree.
The title of your post reminds me of the Burt Bacharach song, with some lyrics quite apt:
“It’s just like a tree
Where each branch becomes a family that’s
Living Together, Growing Together, just being together,”

Yes. A testament to the powers of nature. Sounds like a great trip.

Nes, first of all, thank you for your feedback. Yes, when I saw that little tree, I immediately thought of Bacharach’s song. I’m glad it also evoked that song with. Although the movie where the song came from was not successful, I simply love its soundtrack. Thanks, again.
