Love in the Afternoon

Walking at McKinney Falls State Park

— I am not sure how many photographers associate photography with music. I know of a few that do. I also tend to remember songs when I am making photographs such as the one above. This particular scene made me think of the old “Love in the Afternoon” song. That song was featured in the 1957 Billy Wilder movie by the same name and starred Gary Cooper and Audrey Hepburn. The song has been recorded by a number of artists, including Barbra Streisand and Dionne Warwick.

McKinney Falls SP is located in southeast Austin. It is a gorgeous place to visit at just about any time of the year. Lower Falls, for example, is a popular spot that visitors enjoy, and it is also a great place to go swimming, especially on summer days.

Just a week ago, my husband and I went there in a late afternoon. Surprisingly enough, he had never been to that park, even though it is right here in Austin. I took him there to see both the Lower and Upper Falls. Since it had not rained in a few weeks, both falls were not running high. I also wanted to see the park at this time of the year because it often displays some beautiful fall foliage. As the sun was getting lower on the horizon, the shadows along this trail were captivating. We sat at one of those picnic benches and just enjoyed some quiet times by Onion Creek.
