— Although we did not have ample time to explore Capitol Reef National Park while traveling in Utah in 2016, this short drive at the park was a feast to our eyes. Goosenecks Overlook and Panorama Point are two specific areas in the park a visitor must see. Capitol Reef NP is located in south-central Utah in the area known as the red rock country. A look at this photo here shows that clearly. Capitol Reef was established as a national monument in 1937. On December 18, 1971, it was then established as a national park. The park is 241,904 acres (377.98 sq mi) in size.
