— The FIA’s World Endurance Championship (WEC) is one of those thrilling races that have excited crowds worldwide. The Circuit of the Americas (COTA) in Austin, Texas, has held the event year after year. If you are not familiar with it, this is one of the events as part of the 24 Hours of Le Mans in France. The FIA (Fédération Internationale de l’Automobile) is the same organization that governs Formula 1 races. Like Formula 1, WEC races take place worldwide. Presently, there are races in Asia, Europe, the Middle East, and North America. The last time WEC came to Austin was February 2020. The races were not initially on the COTA calendar. There was a last-minute change because of problems with sponsorship in São Paulo, Brazil. COTA stepped up and was able to have the event. The 6 Hours of Austin (Lone Star Le Mans) takes place during daytime and nighttime hours. Generally, the start of the race is late afternoon. The shots here are from a previous year, not 2020. No matter what the weather, rain or shine, the races go on.
