— The largest port in Latin America, Santos is a gem of a city! Only 49 miles (79 km) away from the capital of São Paulo, Santos offers both ocean and mountain views. The Serra do Mar separates the city from the interior. The city has a population of approximately 500,000 people (2015 census) and has great infrastructure for retirees in Brazil. Besides being home to Santos Futebol Clube (Pelé’s soccer team), Santos was also historically significant because of the Coffee Museum, which once was where coffee prices were negotiated in Brazil. Santos is also in the Guinness Book of World Records as the city with the longest beachfront garden: 5,335 m (5,834 yd) in length.
