— First and foremost, I guarantee you that the photo above is leveled, and no, what you see is not an optical illusion. In fact, those buildings are indeed leaning. Several buildings along the shore in Santos (São Paulo) display that abnormality. They are inhabited buildings. Naturally, this problem only appeared after the buildings were built. The construction companies have worked and reinforced the bases to make sure the structure was sound and safe. To this date, there have been no accidents at all. Although I have not been able to visit any of those apartments, I can only imagine what one would look like inside with all furniture propped up to be leveled.
Santos is the largest and busiest port in Latin America and the world’s 39th largest port. The city of Santos is approximately 1.5 hours by car from the city of São Paulo. The drive is very scenic, especially coming from São Paulo to Santos. You will be driving from the mountains (Serra do Mar) to the seashore with breathtaking and frightening views along the road. Besides coffee, the port is also used for other products, such as cars, machinery, orange juice, soybeans, and other agricultural products.
