— I recently posted a waterfall photo while hiking along Bull Creek at St. Edwards Park in northwest Austin. The park is very popular not only because it is in northwest Austin. A great appeal the park has is due to the beautiful waters of Bull Creek. On the second day of 2021, I was hiking there with a couple of friends. It was hard not to stop every so often to marvel at the creek waters.
The area I made this photo was close to the end of the Green and Red Loop. Since it is such an easy trail covering 2.7 miles (4.3 km) with an elevation of 347 ft (105.7 m), you are always near the creek. Some areas include beautiful swimming holes, whereas others the creek runs peacefully. Whether you go swimming or simply sit nearby to appreciate the running waters, you will enjoy spending time at this park. Keep in mind that it is a very popular place. Weekdays are probably easier to find parking and also have more tranquility along your hike.
For the shot here, I took two photos on the same spot. One photo had my camera set to capture the shadows present in the scene, while the second photo captured the highlights. At home, I merged both shots to create a more dynamic representation of the actual scene that reflected what my eyes saw.
