Cathedral Grove

Cathedral Grove - Muir Woods National Monument— In 2013, our summer vacation took us to the west coast. More specifically, we visited San Francisco, Alcatraz Island National Recreation Area, Yosemite National Park, Mono Lake and Muir Woods National Monument. We had read some about Muir Woods and how impressive the park is. All the homework we had done in advance did not prepare us to being there, walking among those giant redwood trees. Muir Woods has been a national monument since 1908. Hiking in this park is a most humbling experience like no other. In particular, the Cathedral Grove area was the most impressive for us. We truly felt as if we were in a sacred area.
