— This week I was able to finally visit Red Bud Isle park, close to downtown Austin, Texas. I had heard about and seen a couple of photos from the area showing fall foliage. I did the short hike around the island and was captivated by the display of colors in the cypress trees. It was a partly cloudy day with occasional bursts of sunlight showcasing intense yellows, oranges, reds, and greens.

I was very satisfied with what I saw in the park. However, when I was driving in, I noticed that the area across from the dam spill area was even more colorful. Since there was only a narrow bridge in the area, I could not get down to the water level. Walking around the area, I noticed there was a locked gate across from the park entrance. That is the first photo in this post. Although I could not enter the locked area, I was able to walk around and admire even more intense fall foliage. To the right and left of that bridge, there were a couple of easy access points to lead me closer to the water level. That is what you see in the other two photos here. I could not believe what my eyes were seeing. This is a very small area, but fall foliage density is high and colors are very bright. What made my exploration more exciting was the fact that I could see beautiful reflections around the colorful trees. This is fall foliage at its peak in Austin during the week of Thanksgiving, near the end of November.
