Fall Impressions

Impressions

This afternoon, I went to my favorite neighborhood park, Copperfield Nature Trail, to check out fall foliage colors. Two years ago, I did a micro-project focussing on the colors around that section of the trail. It was called Colors in Copperfield. It contained three sections (all linked on that previous link). This afternoon, I intended to try to find colors again, but this time I wanted to see the colors reflected on the lake.

Fall reflections

One nice thing about reflections is the impressionist feel that they may show. In the opening image and this next photo, I intentionally included a little bit of the actual trees on the top of the frame. The viewer can compare the actual element that is being reflected.

Finally, I will close with three images that become progressively more abstract as you scroll down this cascade. It is important to note that the first and last images below are the same, except that the last is only the reflection section of the first image in this block. To my eyes, the second image looks like an inverted photo. Does any image resonate with you? Do you have a preferred image?

Really interesting experiment, Egidio. I am really drawn to the last image without the trees. I didn’t expect that!

Patti, thanks for the feedback. Yes, that last photo without the trees became my favorite. I enjoy doing intimate landscapes when I’m in town.

Nes, I agree with you about the look. A couple of them even show a strong appearance of a canvas. Thank you for your note.

Fun photos – I love abstracts, well done capturing the vivid colors of autumn. To answer your questions, Does any image resonate with you? I like the Dream of Colors best, I prefer the 200 ISO versus the 1000 ISO. Do you have a preferred image? If I had to choose for the 1000 ISO, I’d go with the Colors of the Rainbow.

Shelley, thank you so much for your detailed response. Those two images you mentioned show stronger and more saturated colors. They pull me in every time I look at them.

Lovely colours and reflections, I enjoyed them all, the last is an artwork not a photograph of. A scenery. Love. ❤️

Ritva, thank you so much! And to think I almost did not see the last composition. That is my favorite.

I like the last one the best, if you’re going for the abstract. I like the blend of soft colors.

Thanks, Anne. The last photo was a last-minute addition. When I saw its counterpart, I realized that a crop with just the reflection would fit the bill for an abstract.
