Glen Canyon Dam Bridge

Glen Canyon Dam Bridge— On our second trip towards the Grand Canyon (this time it was to the North Rim), we added a stay around Page, Arizona. Besides the slot canyons in that area, we also enjoyed the sites of Glen Canyon National Recreational Area and Lake Powell. We had a stop to visit the Glen Canyon Dam, and right outside the visitor’s center, this gorgeous view of the Glen Canyon Dam Bridge greeted us. The bridge was built in 1959 (at the time it was the highest arch bridge), is 700 feet (213 meters) high and spans 1,028 feet (313 meters) across the Colorado River. Nowadays it is the 10th highest arch bridge in the world and the 3rd highest in the USA. We were lucky to have seen this bridge from the top as well as from down below, when we went floating down the Colorado River.
