Grosvenor Arch

Grosvenor Arch

— On our way from Bryce Canyon NP to Arches NP, we stopped at the ranger station at Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monument. Since we had some time to get to Arches, we asked the ranger if there was any hike or recommended site to visit. She suggested we drive to Grosvenor Arch. We drove the Scenic Byway 12 in Utah, one of the most beautiful and scenic highways in the country. You go through desert lands and highlands, hot and cold and almost obligatory stops at every curve. In the park, we took a drive down Cottonwood Canyon Road until we reached the impressive double arch at Grosvenor Arch. This double arch was named after Gilbert Hovey Grosvenor, president of the National Geographic Society. These are sandstone arches 150 ft above the ground. The largest arch is 100 ft in diameter.
