— As a new week is about to begin, I already have my mind set on my next zen destination: Lake Bastrop South Shore. I last visited this park, just about 45 minutes from home, on February 2020. Having it so close to Austin is a blessing. The natural park setting is inviting to hiking, biking, swimming, fishing, and kayaking. Even though the trails in this specific area shown in the photo above are closed temporarily (the park is doing some trail repair/renovation), the lake is open. So, my friends and I have some kayaking planned for this coming week in this area. We will also be able to hike the trail that connects the south to the north shore, of course. The park is within minutes from Bastrop, and yet, it is very tranquil. This proximity gives us the excuse to revisit local restaurants we enjoy in the area. Staying in a mini-cabin or camping is perfect when all the preparations for the trip are minimized. This time, for example, we all have mini-cabins to us and will pick up food to bring back to our cabin area and chat around a campfire. Life is peaceful and so rewarding.
