— When hiking the Widforss Trail (Grand Canyon NP, North Rim), if you venture past the first 2.5 miles (4.0 km), you will leave the canyon rim and go through forests of firs, spruces, aspens, and wildflowers. At the end of the trail, approximately 6 miles (9.5 km) in, you reach a majestic canyon overview with Widforss Point as the main focus. The trail and this point are named after Gunnar Widforss, an artist who spent the 1920s and 1930s painting the Grand Canyon. One of the amazing things about this particular view is that from this point you can see Wotans Throne and Vishnu Temple, among other park landmarks. When you reach this point you are at an elevation of 7,978 ft (2,432 m).
