Sunset at Beira-Mar

Sunset at Beira-Mar

— What does someone do when one lives on the coast? Well, if you live in Fortaleza (northeast coast of Brazil), watching a sunset is a must. Wouldn’t you do the same if you lived there? Fortaleza is known for its beaches and seafood. With an estimated 2.6 million people, the city is always busy. So, running to the shoreline at Avenida Beira-Mar (literally it means “by the shore”) is a great escape at the end of the day. The Sun always surprises everyone enjoying the scenery. Those high rises you see in the distance are residential towers. Occasionally, there may be a hotel here and there. Because of the proximity to the Equator — only 257.00 mi (413.60 km) south of it — the city’s weather is about the same all year around. The Sun rises around 5:00-5:30 in the morning and sets around twelve hours later. Well, this is where I was born.
