Sunset at COTA

Circuit of the Americas tower at sunset

— It is really hard to imagine that it has now been four years that the Circuit of the Americas began its Tuesday evenings bike rides. I have gone biking there pretty regularly now. In 2020, because of the pandemic lockdown. there were no rides. However, in Spring 2021, the bike rides came back. With the large number of people that come to those evenings, this event has become a solid tradition for the biking community in Austin and surrounding areas.

Besides riding with friends and the challenging Turn 1 ascent, how can one not enjoy the terrific sunsets we witness there? The photo above was made during this week’s Tuesday ride. The heavy clouds appeared to be holding back strong rains, but it really never rained. Once or twice we had some sprinkles, and that was all. The weather conditions ended up making last night’s ride so perfect. It was cool, and the sunset was intense. The location I made this photo is just about the same I used four years ago. This time, however, I had my regular camera in my backpack and was able to capture better colors and more details.
