Swiftcurrent Lake Sunset

Swiftcurrent Lake, Mt. Gould, Gem and Grinnel Glaciers at sunse

– Arguably the most beautiful US national park, Glacier NP is a paradise of breathtaking views. Swiftcurrent Lake is located in the Many Glacier section of the park, with the Many Glacier Hotel on its shores. The lake is at an elevation of 4,875 ft (1,486 m) and is 5,249 feet (1,600 m) long and 2,625 feet (800 m) wide. Right in the center of this image, we see Mt. Gould (elevation 9,557 ft or 2,913 m). If you follow right from its peak, you will find Gem Glacier. Directly below that is Grinnell Glacier. One of the fastest disappearing glaciers in the park, Grinnell Glacier is responsible for providing water to this lake. The largest mountain on the right side is Grinnell Point. The next photo is older and was taken in the morning and a bit to the right of the featured photo above. Grinnell Glacier is seen more clearly in this image, between Mt. Gould and Grinnell Point, near that flat mesa.
