— I am lucky to live close to the wonderful Walnut Creek Metropolitan Park. This 293-acre park offers countless options for enjoyment, including over 15 miles of hiking trails, off-leash dog areas, swimming, and sports facilities. There are playgrounds, a swimming pool, 5 softball fields, 2 basketball courts, and 1 volleyball court. The creek itself is a dog’s favorite. Also on weekends, most of the trails near the parking areas, and before crossing the creek, are very busy. The city has now also implemented the Northern Walnut Creek (phase 1) hike and bike trail. It is a short trail covering only 4.8 miles roundtrip from the park to MoPac. Because of the park’s proximity to our house, I often go biking there or hiking to explore photo opportunities, such as this one above. This was a three-bracketed photo I made exactly three years ago today. There was some large rock slide due to heavy rains, and I wanted to see that. The rock slide is that exposed area in the background (also reflected in the creek).
