— All the overlooks at Canyonlands National Park offer countless ways to be amazed at nature’s beauty. The one shown here is the White Rim Overlook. It is located in the park section known as Island in the Sky. Can you spot the vehicle on the road? That is one thousand feet below the area I was standing at for this view. The hike to the overlook is very short and easy. It is under 2 miles roundtrip, and the views you’ll get are sweeping, including the snow-capped La Sal Mountains on the east in the horizon. These canyons are the work of the Colorado River. The white caps you see on the hoodoos and canyon rim are thick salt deposits. On the right of the photo, we can also see the spires of Monument Basin.
