Window Flame

The Window

— Countless times I have seen this view at Big Bend NP. The Window is undeniably Texas and Big Bend. Upon arriving at the Chisos Basin, one must make time to appreciate the beauty of each sunset with The Window framing the night sky and the Chihuahuan Desert in the horizon. Did you know that Big Bend NP is one of the least visited parks in the lower forty-eight states? Its remoteness is arguably the reason for that. By the same token, it is also its remoteness that gave the park its denomination of a Dark Sky Park in 2012 by the International Dark-Sky Association. In addition to excellent hiking trails and geological features, you can also add stargazing as one activity to be appreciated in the park.
