Chisos Mountains

Chisos Mountains

— Although I have been to Big Bend National Park many times, certain views within the park never get old. The Window, Sotol Vista, Santa Elena Canyon, Casa Grande, and the South Rim are just a few examples. Another breathtaking view can be seen if one travels from Lajitas to the park via FM 170. On reaching a hill just outside Terlingua, one can see the entire Chisos Mountains range. A closer view of the range — although not its entirety — can be appreciated by driving the Ross Maxwell Scenic Drive leading to Castolon and the Santa Elena Canyon. You can actually see the other side of The Window and Casa Grande way in the back, as in the photo here. On this particular late afternoon, the time was just right with the sun setting and bathing the mountains in this bright red-orange glow.
