Breaking Through

Northeast Metropolitan Park

— A couple of years ago, I thought it would be different to photograph the Northeast Metropolitan Park in a different light. This is a park I frequent often because I like going biking there. However, on this particular day, I waited for a morning when the forecast would be calling for fog. One of the best locations to experience the beauty of this park is in the retention pond by the soccer fields. There is a series of trees lining up that pond. In the fall they offer vibrant foliage. Since this was already December, most of the leaves have already fallen. Coupling that with the fog, the scenery I found was very moody and dramatic. I actually have a color shot taken on the same day in this area. This photo was made using three bracketed images merged to create an HDR shot. I then converted that to a black-and-white scene to complete my edit.
