— As our first hike in Arches NP back in 2016, we took the Park Avenue trail. Among the several interesting rock formations found along the trail, you will encounter this towering structure named the Three Gossips. As you can see in the photo above, the name comes from the fact the structure resembles three women gossiping or chatting among themselves. This Entrada sandstone structure is about the same height but has its tallest point at 350 ft (106 m) from the base. The structure is visible from the trail and from a viewpoint along a park road. So, if you don’t feel like hiking, you can still see the Three Gossips.
Park Avenue, the Three Gossips, and other sandstone formations are probably among the first views—along with the La Sal Mountains—a visitor will encounter upon entering the park and passing the visitor center.
